Nation's largest freight car manufacturer, headed by E.F. Carry, merged with the Pullman Company in 1922, allowing Pullman to expand its frieght car building operations. In the deal, Pullman acquired Haskell and Barker's modern Michigan City, Indiana car works for $15 million and Carry became president of the Pullman Company.
